Passport Procedures
According to Articles 14 and 12 of the Passport Law, the person requesting a passport must prove Afghan Nationality. Passports will be issued to applicants in accordance with the application regulations issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.
The identity card (Tazkira) must be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
New Passport Application Due to Loss:
1: According to Article 28 of the Passport Law, a person who loses their passport inside or outside the country must obtain a loss report from the police units and place a loss announcement in a relevant local newspaper.
2: If the passport of the person specified in Clause 1 of Article 28 of the Passport Law is not found, they can apply for a new passport provided they pay double the passport fee.
Passport application due to the burning of the passport book:
1: According to Article 29 of the Passport Law, in case of burning of the person's passport, they can request the issuance of a new passport from the authority authorized to issue passports after the Security Directorate confirms the burnt status.
2: The authorized authority issuing passports must announce the invalidity of the passport through relevant administrative units and inform these units as a result of the determination that the passport has become invalid by burning. In this way, a new passport can be issued in accordance with the provisions of this law.
Fines:
According to Article thirty-seven of the Passport Law, anyone who causes their own or another person's passport to be corrupted or destroyed must pay a fine of 240 USD in cash.
Documents Required for Passport Application:
According to Article 19 of the passport law, the following documents are required to obtain an ordinary electronic passport.
1: Citizenship Tazkira
2: Petition (Written passport request)
3: Four standard photos (5.4 cm by 5.4 cm white background Biometric).
4: Filling out the passport application form.
Passport Fee: The price of an ordinary passport is 120 USD. Validity period is 5 years.
